What began as a casual encounter, turned out to be real-life serendipity for Olivier Jimenez and Pauline Abd-el-Kader. Olivier and Pauline met in St. Maarten 15 years ago only to discover they were actually childhood neighbors from Antibes, France. After their quaint happening, they embarked on a lifetime journey channeled by destiny. Inspired by their passion for roaming the world, they embarked on a voyage together and explored places such as Nepal, French Guyana, Thailand, Chile, The Caribbean, Morocco, Columbia, Pacifiic South Asia, India, and Spain.
Along the way they fell madly in love, started a family, and began their new life together in Brooklyn. Combined with over 40 years of experience in the restaurant business, it seemed only natural to open a restaurant together, one that would showcase their love of global cuisine prepared with fresh, seasonal ingredients and transport their dinners, near and far. In 2007, Olivier and Pauline launched Brooklyn’s newest bistro with, Autour Du Monde (Around The World).
Nestled in Clinton Hill neighborhood, Autour Du Monde, presents an eclectic dining experience with refined dishes inspired by their travels overseas. Owners, Olivier and Pauline Jimenez present fresh, seasonal, and local ingredients, combined with organic and all natural food. Their global-inspired menu changes with every season in keeping with their goal to make food taste like it should – fresh, lively and delicious.
In 2008, the owners brought the French-trained acclaimed Irish Chef, Frank Coe, on board as their Executive Consultant. Meeting the award-winning Chef seemed like another serendipitous moment, given his own worldly background. Coe perfected his craft in kitchens across the world including: London; Singapore; France; and Australia before coming to New York. Owner of Long Island restaurant, Wild Goose, Frank Coe was hailed by the New York Times, Zagat, Newsday and others, “It is a good chef that makes a good restaurant, and one is at work here,” exclaimed The New York Times.
Together, they provide a taste-forward cuisine at its best and a menu filled with flavor while maintaining health conscious dishes to their patrons. Their menu also provides few choice American classics, amazing brunch dishes, delicious comfort food and a wide selection for vegetarians as well as meat-eaters alike.
Take a trip around the world, in Brooklyn. Autour Du Monde is open for Dinner, and their famous Sunday Brunch.
